Haddon Hall

Passions have traditionally run high at Haddon Hall; from medieval elopement to period dramas and film settings. Dorothy Vernon was first to disobey her father’s wishes and run away with the ill favoured John Manners having escaped through a small side door in the ballroom which is today named “Dorothy’s Door”. Centuries later, Haddon Hall has become a much sought after film location, not least for its magnificent architecture, long gallery and impressive gardens. Its banqueting hall, with a tapestry that belonged to King Henry VIII, transforms into the inn at Lambton in the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, while its dining hall becomes Elizabeth's bedroom.
